Recommended by macaustin: Austin Engine Rebuilders rebuilt the engine in my 1994 toyota pickup for less than half the dealership’s bid to install a USED engine. I grew up around cars, and was immediately impressed by what Bobby has going on in his shop. This isn't an operation where you get a remanufactured engine put together with the cheapest parts available to cut costs. Bobby and his mechanic actually tear the engine down, inspect everything, and rebuild it with great parts. Not only did Bobby stick to the original price he gave me after finding more damage in my engine than anticipated...he went out of his way to find a quality workaround to replacing a $600 oil cooler. Bobby is a straight shooter, has a good warranty, and my truck hasn't ever run better during the six years I've owned it. This was also the only shop I found in good standing on the better business bureau website after several hours of research. If you need your engine rebuilt go straight to this shop. Recommended by lisa: Austin Engine has serviced my family's vehicles longer than I can remember. That's because when you find excellent customer service, extraordinary work, and honest people there is no reason to go anywhere else. They have always taken the time to explain the issues with my vehicle thoroughly, and how to resolve and prevent future problems. I high recommend these guys to anyone interested in quality work. Great Job Austin Engine!!! (August 10th 2006)
Comment by evelyn: I have been taking my cars to Bobby at Austin Engine for the past 12 years and have always been 100% happy with the quality of work and professional service I have received there. As a woman, it's almost impossible to find a mechanic you can trust to give you a straightforward analysis of the problem under your hood (without being patronizing!), with a fair and realisting estimate of the time and money required to fix it. I currently have a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder with 228,000 miles on it that is still going strong and recently passed inspection even with the new emissions standards BECAUSE the guys at Austin Engine have diligently and faithfully kept this vehicle and others in tip-top condition for me all these years. They say a good man is hard to find, but I say it's easy compared to finding an honest mechanic! Thanks again for keeping me rolling along smoothly, and keep up the good work! (August 10th 2006)
Comment by austinengine: Please check the Better Busines Bureau or Texas Attorney General when evaluating my business. They do not simply post Chris XXXXXXX's remarks as facts. (August 9th 2006)
Comment by austinengine: Chris XXXXXXXX-1999 vw passat (aka nemeshh) did have his car rebuilt at my shop about two years ago. I never heard one complaint from Chris until July 06, when he called and said his oil light came on in his dash and that the engine started making a loud noise. I told him that I would pick the car up and diagnose it. After recieving the car I noticed that the car was driven with very little engine oil and that the oil was solid black as if it had never been changed. I checked the milage on his car and found that it had been driven 18,000 miles. I talked to Chris and told him that he did have a warranty and that I would fix his car if he provided oil change reciepts. Several days went by then he called and said he did not have any reciepts and that he would arange to have car picked up. I machine and build an excellent engine, Chris can atest to that because he drove our engine 18000 miles without changing his oil, now he is slaming me. (August 9th 2006)
Not Recommended by nemeshh: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP! They charged me more than double the rate they quoted to put in a rebuilt engine. Then they didn't even do it (they rebuilt my old engine and left of two engine mounts which resulted in hundreds of dollars of work at another shop)! Even after double charging me They failed to give me a reciept but swore that the engine and labor were warranteed. I went away angry beyond belief and scared. Then when my engine overheated and caused problems again a year later they have no record of the car, insist the problem (which all the other mechanics say shouldn't have been possible) was my fault, refused to cover the repairs and quoted me $3500 for a repair my regular mechanic said should be no more than $1500 MAX. (When I asked him why it should be so much more at his shop he said "I don't know I'm not an expert in these things..." They are either horrible mechanics or excellent con men--either way do yourself a favor and avoid this shop like the plauge. Don't pay out the nose for mechanical ineptitude and an unforgivable lack of character. (July 28th 2006)
