Recommended by moiety: Free wireless, great selection of books, great author events regularly, what's not to like? (April 8th 2005)
Recommended by anonymous: I love Book People. But I have to say, I was very disappointed that they got rid of their gay and lesbian section. What was the gay and lesbian is now a full row of Erotica. I have so many gay friends and it was always helpful to know where to go to shop for them. Last time I was there, they told me that they had integrated the gay fiction into the regular fiction. I asked for recommendations then and he didn't know of any. Well, actually he recommended Sarah Waters, a known Lesbian author. That doesn't work! Anyway, I love Book People and will continue to shop there, I just miss that particular part of their diversity. (October 21st 2005)
Recommended by anonymous: Nice environment to shop for books. They have a great range of books by local and Texas authors. They are only as overpriced as books are in general. They do put books on sale, maybe not to the extent Barnes and Noble or Borders do. Go to Halfprice is you need used or cheaper books. (March 19th 2005)
Recommended by anonymous: I absolutely love BookPeople. The staff recommends cards are enlightening and helpful, and I would not dare to compare it to a Barnes and Nobles or Borders. Shopping in those stores makes one feel sterile and uninterested, while BookPeople is engaging, lively and fun. In terms of price, they exert little control over the set price of a new book, but they do offer plenty of paperbacks and have a sale section. I've never been upset with the price of books at BookPeople, and I don't have $ to throw around. If price is a huge issue, consider the library. There is nothing I enjoy more than wandering the stacks at BookPeople after a crazy day. (April 12th 2004)
