Recommended by andreabarton: By far, best Indian cuisine in Austin. If it's your first visit and you want to play it safe, start with the house favorite Khuroos-e-Tursh, you will not be disappointed. (February 26th 2007)
Recommended by anonymous: The food is fantastic, and the best Indian I've found in Austin so far. Staff is normally quick and attentive, and you really cannot beat the ambience. They even have an upper room they rent out for parties or other occasions, which I'll have to do the next time a birthday rolls around.
Oh, and for those that enjoy their food *spicy*, ask for your dish to be "Desi" hot. It somewhat depends on what cook is making the dishes but desihot makes it *insanely* spicy without killing the dish and is a nice touch.
Recommendations:
App: Basil Naan with a bowl of mussels.
Main: Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer (Both are very good basic "staple" Indian dishes)
