Not Recommended by gaillaustx: I used Longhorn Steam Team last spring to clean my carpets. They pestered me to death, and kept throwing in free applications to buy pre-paid maintenance until the deal was too good to be true. So I called Longhorn Steam Team in October to schedule carpet cleaning for the Thanksgiving Holidays, when I had plans to entertain family. At that time, I reminded them that I had prepaid cleanings due, in case they had some type of limit to prepaid cleanings only being available at certain times. We set up an appointment at 9:00 am on Monday before Thanksgiving. They called me on the Friday before to confirm the appointment.
On Monday, when no cleaners had arrived by 9:45 am, I called the office. The woman answering the phone informed me that she had been waiting for my call, as she did not have my telephone number, and wanted me to know that the truck that was scheduled to clean my carpets had mechanical problems and had to be taken in to the shop. I thought that was strange, as they obviously had my phone number since they called me the week before to confirm the date. As all the staff was busy that day, we rescheduled for 9:00 am on Tuesday, the next day.
On Tuesday, when no cleaners had appeared by 9:05 am, I called the office and got voice mail. I left a message, asking where they where. I called again at 9:15 and 9:30, leaving messages each time. At 10:15, the owner called me and explained that he had just found out that the team that was scheduled to come to my house had an accident, but he was on his way over to my house at that very moment.
Approximately an hour and a half later, at 11:00, he showed up at my door. He came in and I explained what I needed done, he asked to see my coupon. After looking at the coupon he said he had to go out and call it in. I waited for him to come back in, and after some time I looked out and saw that he had left.
I again tried calling the office to find out what was going on, and again had to leave a message with the answering machine. My husband then called the office several times, and finally got someone to talk to him. Their explanation was that the owner got an emergency hospital call, and had to leave.
At this time we realized that we were not going to get our carpets cleaned by Longhorn Steam Team, and it was obviously too late to schedule with another cleaner. I had moved a lot of furniture on Monday morning which made moving about the house difficult. And I had left it like that for Tuesday morning. I had planned grocery shopping, other house cleaning, yard work, and other errands for the three days before Thanksgiving. Instead I spent two mornings waiting for the cleaning crew at the house and could not even start the house keeping chores since the furniture was moved and I did not want to be in their way.
I have tried calling and reasoning with these people and sent a certified letter, I have never gotten any response.

My sister got suckered in on the whole works, pre-paid of course, and when i heard that the hair on the back of my neck rose a little, but she assured me these jokers were trustworthy. i can't tell you the number of sat. mornings one or both of us have sat around waiting for the workers that never show or the phone call to reschedule that never rings. I do not know how idiots like this sleep at night knowing they are stealing money from trusting and hard working people. I know that What goes around Comes around and I am a firm believer in Karma. I'm sure their mother's must have passed on because they would be ashamed of what their kids are doing to people. Shame on you, David and your cohorts in crime. Shame on you. (July 18th 2008)
Not Recommended by ul123: Do NOT use Longhorn Steam Team! Yes, for the first visit, David Thompson shows up and will then ask you to pay up front, an extra $100.00 for 2 additional steam cleans, a 2-year contract. Guess what? he does NOT show up. The excuses he uses are: 1-sorry, we double booked you. 2-sorry, you were not in the system for your appointment. and 3...by this time, he does not take your calls. If you then call him from a different phone number, David will answer and his first question is, "have we treated your carpet before?" David Thompson and his associates are THIEVES! All this took place from October 2006 till November 2007. I am still amazed of what people do today for a hundred buck$. (December 14th 2007)
Not Recommended by sha: Warning to all! This company was recommended to me and David Thompson did a fine job cleaning my carpeting and I paid for it plus a 2 year cleaning contract. He then offered to deep clean and re-seal my Saltillo Tile at 35 cents a square foot. Sure wish I had read these reviews first. He absolutely ruined it. Whatever cleaner he put on it caused it's glossy finish to peel up. My floors look like they have leprosy and I'm tracking the flakes all over the house. He said he would be back to fix the mess, but it's been a month and no word. Of course, he cashed my check before I could stop payment. I have been quoted $2.50 per square foot to fix the floors. My house has over 2000 s.f. of tile. I'm sick about it. Plus the contract for carpeting cleaning is clearly lost money as well. He's a thief, and a destroyer of property. Steer Clear. First, he attempted to shove his way into line to get out of the Wal-Mart parking lot. Then, because I would not let him in, he tailgated me...and I tried to get away from him, but he just pursued me. Then, when I attempted to report the driver, low and behold I get the man in the van. He was the owner and called me some very horrible names on the phone. I would never allow someone who cannot even act nicely while driving into my home, especially with the ugly language he used on the phone. DO NOT USE LONGHORN STEAM TEAM. (October 19th 2007)
Not Recommended by lswol: This company is a rip-off. They make you pay up front and then never show up for their appointment. Try calling them after they have your money and you can never reach them nor will they return your calls. This company is not for real - NEVER give them money unless they actually do some work! They sent a truck over with two of their guys. They knew I needed it cleaned up right away, and they told me that unfortunately it would cost $50 to clean the carpet in the room, and even more unfortunately, that I would need an enzyme treatment, and that started at $150. I had to have it done, or face tearing out the carpet. Then they told me that they only accepted cash or check, and asked me to write it out to a person's name. I assumed this was the owner of the business, and I felt suspicious about it, but no one wants to accuse someone of doing something sneaky, so I did as I was told, writing in the memo, "Long Horn Steam Team, carpet cleaning". I thought the price was very high and the next day I called another company to ask what their enzyme treatments started at. They told me $22.50. I then called Longhorn Steam Team owner, David Thompson, and asked him what his enzyme treatment started at. He hemmed and hawed and said sometimes it could run $45. I was shocked and explained the situation to him. He said he'd check into it and get back to me. He never called back, but I called him back, and he informed me that he couldn't find the invoice, and that his employee had been fired, because he never turned the money in to him. He also told me that he would not be giving me any type of return on the money that I was overcharged, and that it was my fault for writing the check to someone's name. I have a copy of the invoice and a copy of the check, but this did not make a difference to him. I don't think this a good way to conduct business, and he certainly didn't care about me being ripped off or retaining my future business. Supposedly, this employee is gone, but I would beware before hiring this business. I also checked with the Better Business Bureau, and they have many unresolved complaints against them. Definitely, only write a check to the business name(in any situation) and compare prices before you hire someone. (January 20th 2007)
