I've known Roger and Tom for almost twenty years now. My family originally learned of them via a family friend when looking for someone to "freshen up" my mom's 1970 Beetle, a car which she bought new in college and which either she and my dad had driven daily for twenty-something years. That car was as shiney and ran as good as the day it left the showroom floor when they were done with it, and it continued to be driven daily for years until it was finally destroyed in an accident. I bought the first of my VWs in high school, 1984 Scirroco. Roger and Tom at Motormania did all the repairs and maintenance work on that vehicle, and have continued to work on all of my VWs -- the only make I've owned -- since: a 1967 Beatle, a 1966 Beatle, a 1988 Jetta GLI, a 1998 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition, and a 2003 Jetta GLI. My wife and I just bought a 2008 Rabbit, which they will, of course, be seeing soon for its first oil change and checkup! It isn't competely fair to say they've done all the work on my vehicles, because I am lucky enough to have worked at Motormania for three years just after graduating from high school. So, I've done some of the work myself, but only because of the tutelage provided by Roger and Tom at Motormania. I say that I was lucky to have worked there because they not only taught me the basics of auto repair, they proved to be excellent role models for how to live life, treat people, and run a business. And they have great taste in music. To make what is turning into a long story short, if you have a VW, do yourself a favor and have it repaired by the honest folks at Motormania. Dong Nai recommended by drn http://www.rateaustin.com/directory/dong-nai/10231/ Great Vietnamese food here. Haven't had any of their Chinese plates, but the Vietnamese is great. Their Vietnamese egg rolls are delicious, so is the pork chop and rice plate as well as their pho and (boon). Giovanni's Pizza Stand recommended by drn http://www.rateaustin.com/directory/giovannis-pizza-stand/16799/ This pizza is awesome! Definitely some of the best pizza in Austin. He has a pretty wide selection on his menu. So far I've only had cheese and sausage. I saw a Pizza Margherita come out of the oven yesterday though and it looked and smelled delicious. He also has soup and some pasta. Call ahead to place your order or just walk up and order. He has some diner style stools to hang out and chat with him while he makes the pizza. You won't be dissapointed! Fonda San Miguel Restaurant recommended by gerberdaisy33 http://www.rateaustin.com/directory/fonda-san-miguel-restaurant/12097/ I love going to Fonda. It is usaually a 3hr experience for my husband and I. We get drinks, appetizers, and finally the entree. They have the best margaritas I have ever had. My favorite is the watermelon margarita. What a treat! You cannot find food like this anywhere else in Austin. I highly recommend trying. Enjoy! Yost Automotive recommended by zpdhan http://www.rateaustin.com/directory/yost-automotive/15864/ Yost was very good and the price is reasonable. I also asked to change my PCV value and cleaned battery ends and he did it very quickly. Thanks a lot for the good work. Texas Honey Ham Company recommended by dan http://www.rateaustin.com/directory/texas-honey-ham-company/16889/ I can't believe I waited so long to try Texas Honey Ham Company. I ordered the club sandwich and was not disappointed. The 1/2 sandwich is plenty for lunch, especially if you want to try the tasty sides. I would also recommend the chocolate chip cookie. Tino's Greek Cafe recommended by dan http://www.rateaustin.com/directory/tinos-greek-cafe/16879/ Gyro meat lunch plate did not disappoint. Pecan Grove RV Park commented on by dan http://www.rateaustin.com/directory/pecan-grove-rv-park/16472/ Pecan Grove is still open. Shady Grove closed on April 1, 2008 to make way for the Barton Place condos.
